Summer is closing in on us

Seriously, summer is slowly coming to an end! Oh where, oh where did our summer time go? I'm sad to see it come to an end, but somewhat excited that we'll be starting back to our regular schedule. Mr. T will be starting 1st grade, and Big J is off to another year of Pre-K (much to his dismay). Both boys will be playing soccer starting in the next few weeks, and I'll be working at the preschool not one but 2 days a week! Eeeeek! I'm already working on my lesson plans so I can have things together when times get busy with the boys and their homework and activites.

With that said, our last week of summer is going to be a blast! I asked the boys what they'd like to do to fill in the time next week. Both shouted out "ZOO!!! We wanna go to the ZOO!!" So sometime next week we'll be heading out to the Oakland Zoo. My favorite place as a child, and we always have fun there! Maybe daddy can take his lunch break and hang out with us for a little bit.

Big J also mentioned he'd love to go to Ikea next week. Seriously, this kids 2 favorite places are Macy's and Ikea! (I think he likes the meatballs most of all!) So of course I'll give in (I secretly love the meatballs too) and make the drive to the Sacramento Ikea!!

We plan to make our last week of summer a good one, as I'm sure you all are too!!

Thankful Thursday

...I think today is the perfect day to stop and think about all I have to be thankful for.

I'm thankful for a wonderful husband who works hard so that we can live the life that we have. I'm thankful for a beautiful house to raise our children in. I'm so thankful for 2 healthy, but sometimes sassy little boys. They are the reason I wake up every morning (otherwise my kitchen would be a disaster if I didn't)

I'm thankful for my mom, who no matter what is going on in her day will stop and listen to me vent, then give it to me for venting over the small day to day stuff. I'm thankful for a cool dad, who I miss too much and his wonderful wife who I know takes excellent care of him. Darn, they live too stinking far away!! :-( I'm thankful for my grandma (and those of you who have heard the stories, I'm sure are scratching their heads right about now)....no matter all the craziness, drama and restraining orders she has put upon me, I'm still thankful for her hugs and crazy stories.

I'm thankful for the country I live in, for all the opportunities available and our freedom. I'm thankful for a long weekend to celebrate Independents day with friends and family, swimming and eating all day long.

I'm thankful for all the wonderful things I have to be thankful for (did that make sense)

Summertime, summertime...sum-sum-summertime

The baseball season has come to an end, and so has school! Yes, they are both singing "No more pencils, no more books, no more teacher's dirty looks". Yep, they think they are sooooo cool!

We have lots in store for us this summer! Swimming lessons, playdates with our friends, free movies, and we have vowed to test out a new park every week. So far, we've found one really cool one by Grammy's house. It has a cute play area, wide walkways to ride bikes, scooters and skateboards. And really huge trees so mom can set up camp and read! ;0)

Another fun adventure, is the guys only fishing trip! My men left yesterday for their 2nd annual fishing trip. Oh do I miss them already. The boys have been talking about last years trip....all year long. So this year it better be just as good (if not better) than last year's adventure. This trip, they decided to really "rough it" they are up in NV, and are really camping manly style. No facilities at all. They have to dig a hole to go potty and carry in their own water. I'm a little nervous, but since they are with daddy ("helicopter dad" as I call him) I'm not worried. Just miss them.

Here are a few pictures of the guys in the last few weeks.

Take me out to the....

Ball game! Whoo hooo! It's that time of year again! Baseball season! Oh how I love baseball, and this year, we'll be cheering on 2 little Celtics who are on the same team! This is Mr. T's 3rd season, while Big J is in his first. Last night, our first game, Big J played in the pitcher's position (although the coaches pitch) and he had all the action the first 2 innings! He'd scoop up that ball and throw a straight shot right to firstbase. He has a cute little hop when he throws (which is quite odd, since I've been to every pratice and never seen that until tonight! Coach thinks it's because daddy made him nervous! LOL) Mr. T was totally showing his stuff last night! He is a power hitter and did so well, he hit 2 outfield last night! He did scoop up a few plays while outfield too!

We celebrated the victory (actually I don't really know who won, we don't have outs or keep score! HA) with a ice cream sundae from "Ronald Donald's". Really, how else can you something so cool!

Lil Cowpokes....

I'm totally making up for lost time! I'm guessing you're going to get sick of me in the next few weeks! ;0) We have lots going on and I'm going to have lots to share!

A few weeks ago I got wind that the boys were having "Western Day" at school, and with about 24 hour notice (actually I'm thinking it was more like 12) I whipped up the most Rootin' Tootin' costumes for my guys ever! I thought I'd share! I bet you never met Cowboys that wore polo shirts and Sketchers?!?! ;-)

I must say, the costumes came out great, the sassiness on the littlest cowpoke needed an ajustment or tow. Can you tell he was in rare form that morning! (who am I trying to kid, he's in rare form EVERY morning!)

Bad blogger...shame, shame on me!

Seriously, it's already May 4th. Just four and a half short weeks from that dreaded summer vacation (cue scary movie theme music here). We have been so overly busy, it isn't funny! But life is good in the Wright house, very very good!

Just a quick summary of our last 4 months....I stopped my Project 365, I'll try again next year. My handsome hubby surprised me with a trip to Vegas in Feb, just the two of us! Yep, you can bet your sweet pattotie, I danced on the bar at Coyote Ugly, and have pictures to prove it! I cut 14 inches off of my hair, and donated it to Locks of Love. I got a call in late Jan for a preschool teacher job that I didn't apply for (HA!) I'm working one day a week at the school the boys used to attend. Word got out and now I'm sub'ing for Big J's class a few times a month. It's about time I finally put my ECE credits from Chabot Jr. College (1985-86) to good use! Mr. T lost another tooth (picture to come shortly) and I found Momslikeme.com (a great local social network that I'm proud to be a part of.) I cut 1And I think that's it for now! No HUGE news, just daily everyday stuff.

I am off to bathe 2 stinky little baseball players and then start working on a little crafty project. I'll be back, mark my words! ;0)

Round 2...

Oh it's been a long long week, and we're barely reaching the end. I'm happy to share my Project 365 photos with you...although I need to figure out a better way to post them than just have them scattered all "willy nilly" on the page! oh well....time will come and I'll get this blogging thingy figured out!
(pic 1.....cute little boy piggies, pic 2.... my fortune, pic 3...my life in a nutshell, pic 4....my Princess Mickey ball. She's been through hell (survived a few car washes) and back, but she's still hanging tough...isn't that an old NKOTB song? HA and pic 5...my big guy after a long hard day at school, he went upstairs to change his clothes and fell fast asleep with his Daddy's sweatshirt and baby. ;0)
I'll be back in a few days to share some of my quick wit and charm....either that or I'll bore you to tears! Thanks for looking.

Project 365

OH, how I have been slacking off on my blogging duties. I didn't mean for it to happen, but life got in the way, and well, you know...something had to give. Our holidays were wonderful, and we're slowly getting back into our groove. I'm happy to say, that my dear sweet husband gave me a wonderful gift for Christmas...one that totally makes up for missing my last birthday. I got a new Canon Rebel. Oh how I have drooled over them for years, but just knew the timing wasn't right. But to hold this baby in my hands....I wonder what I was thinking! It is right, oh so right!

So, in honor of my new camera....and the fact that I just have to use it daily....I have vowed to take part in Project 365... So here I am....sharing my goods for the first 5 days of the month. I'll continue to add more as I get going.

(Pic 1 above: boys caught playing nicely downstairs, Pic 2: lone pirate in a sea of toiletries Pic 3: John with that look. Pic 4 John with his famous look "leave me alone". Pic 5: New Year's Eve Monkey Bread....yum!)

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous 2009!!
